Karen Jones
Chairwoman - Karen Jones

Karen founded Citywealth after a career at News International, The Times, and Sunday Times in the legal, financial and recruitment sections. She also ran the Legalease flagship title Legal Business/Asia Pacific Legal 500, and launched Legal Business Awards and Legal 500 parties. Karen then took over In Brief magazine, where she grew the organisation from a buyout where it had gone bankrupt to a successful £500,000-a-year publishing and events business. Her work as a Citywealth CEO was recognised by four New York Stevie Awards: Women helping women (2014, 2015), Innovator of the year (2015), and Entrepreneur of the year (2015).

David Kilshaw

David has over 35 years of experience in advising clients including entrepreneurs, offshore trustees and non-doms on all aspects of personal taxation.David joined Rawlinson & Hunter in 2019, prior to which he spent over 20 years as a partner in two of the Big 4 accounting firms. David started his career as a solicitor. David’s recent work includes advice on creating a family office in the UK, pre-UK arrival planning for a senior executive, and the sale of a significant private company owned by an offshore trust.David has appeared in court as an expert witness on a number of occasions including in the Mehjoo case on non-domicile planning.David won the STEP Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 and in 2016 won the “Leading Individual Award” at the Wealth Briefing European Awards. He is listed in e-private clients top 50 private client advisers for 2019.

Karen joined JTC in 2018 as Senior Director – Private Client Services. Based in Jersey, she is responsible for driving growth in the company’s Europe and UK region, as well as being an integral member of the equivalent Asia regional team. Prior to arriving at JTC, Karen held various senior positions at leading firms within the private client industry over a period of more than three decades. During this time she has worked closely with a variety of multi-jurisdictional, multi-generational high net worth individuals and families. Karen’s career has seen her work in numerous jurisdictions such as Geneva and Singapore, the latter as Managing Director of a major global fiduciary service provider. Few are better respected than Karen when it comes to working with multi-jurisdictional, multigenerational ultra-high net worth families. With over 30 years in the private wealth industry, including spells in Geneva and Singapore, Karen not only understands the mindset of the ultra-wealthy but has the technical ability to create optimal solutions and the personality to make their delivery a pleasure.

Suzanne Kingston

As a highly experienced family lawyer, Suzanne supports clients facing complex financial issues and children arrangements following separation as well as advising on pre-nuptial agreements. Many of her cases involve substantial assets and have an international element. Committed to helping clients find solutions in the way that best suits them, Suzanne is a qualified collaborative practitioner, mediator and arbitrator. With over 30 years’ experience advising clients ranging from business owners to high-profile individuals, Suzanne knows one-size does not fit all. She takes time to understand what clients are looking to achieve. As an arbitrator, Suzanne was able to provide a couple with a quick, certain and private resolution to their dispute all with the benefit of a fixed fee. Resolving the same dispute through the courts would have taken years with escalating costs. Regularly helping clients to implement wealth protection strategies, Suzanne recently co-ordinated advice from five countries to successfully negotiate a pre-nuptial agreement protecting assets worth over £2billion.

Marie McNeela

Marie began her career onshore in the Fiduciary Department at Coutts, London where she worked for 10 years. She subsequently moved offshore to Cayman where she headed the Trust and Corporate team for MeesPierson. In 2002 Marie moved to Guernsey where she was employed by Credit Suisse Trust. During her seven years there she progressed to Head of Asia and frequently travelled to meet with clients in the region. In 2009 she was asked to join the Board of Rothschild Trust Guernsey where she was Head of Clients, both private and corporate. For the past 5 years Marie sat on the Board of a privately owned Trust and Corporate Service Provider in Guernsey. Marie has over 20 years global Fiduciary and Corporate experience which extends to dealing with complex family matters, disputes, commercial and corporate governance matters. In addition she has experience in dealing with more complex cross border issues, litigious matters, property, aircraft lease and finance and pension services. Marie has sat on the Board of many client companies over the years. She has spoken at various conferences and is a former committee member of the Guernsey Association of Trustees. She is a current committee member for the Guernsey branch of the Institute of Directors. Marie joined Intertrust Guernsey in June 2018 as Head of Corporate Services. In December 2018, Marie was named as the Managing Director for the Intertrust Guernsey Office.

Joshua Matthews

Josh is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of MASECO Private Wealth which was established in 2008. Prior to establishing MASECO, Josh established and led the US Expat at Citibank in London. As an expat himself, he had the vision to re-create the US wealth management experience in the UK which naturally developed based on his background, knowledge and expertise. Josh is an expert in helping High & Ultra High Net Worth American & International families achieve financial peace of mind by providing expert guidance and advice on their financial planning, investment management, estate planning and charitable gifting. Josh began his wealth management career with Salomon Smith Barney (which later became Citigroup) in the Park Avenue Wealth Management branch - where he was ranked as the top advisor in his training class. Whilst, in New York, Josh advised American expats living abroad from Honeywell, Pfizer, Young & Rubicam, IBM and other companies where his team managed the corporate stock option plans. In New York, Josh was part of the elite Blue Chip Council, was a Portfolio Manager and a certified Financial Planning Specialist. In 2001, equipped with this experience and knowledge, Josh transferred to London where he could identify with the struggles of Americans living abroad and established the US Ex-pat team at Citigroup.

Iain joined Frank Hirth in 2000 and has successfully established and built the Trust and Estates service within our Private Client offering. Iain personally covers numerous areas of US and UK taxation for both individuals and families. He offers specialist advice relating to FATCA reporting. Iain also focuses his attention on the firm's business development plans. Iain is also a Trustee of NPT-Transatlantic, dealing with effective charitable giving for US & UK connected individuals & families. He is a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), US Enrolled Agent (EA) and a Member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP). He was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2016. He was listed in ePrivate Client’s Top 35 Under 35 in 2013 and was also honoured when listed in The Spear’s 500, 2016-2019 and in The Spear's 500 Top Ten Tax Advisors in 2019.

Beatrice is the head of Burges Salmon's Private Wealth sector and a partner in the firm's Tax, Trusts and Family department, which was named “Legal Team of the Year - Large Firm” at the STEP Private Client Awards 2019/20, the third time in five years the team has seen success in this category. Beatrice's primary focus is on international tax, trusts and estate planning for UK and non-UK resident and domiciled clients. She has significantly contributed to the development of the firm's European tax and trust practice with a particular expertise on Italian issues. Beatrice also has significant experience in advising financial institutions and trustees on international trust and tax matters and on the ownership, structuring and acquisition of UK and non-UK real estate. Beatrice also specialises in cross-border estate planning issues with a particular focus on all issues arising from Roman Law and Common Law application. James Campbell

James has extensive experience advising professional trustees, family offices, intermediaries and high-net worth families (both internationally and locally) on all aspects of Jersey trusts, foundations and estate planning together with all related company and commercial law issues. James frequently advises on the establishment, ongoing operation and restructuring of both private and commercial trusts. He has a particular focus on the drafting of trust instruments, supplemental trust deeds and the establishment and use of private trust companies. James also advises on regulatory matters involving trust company business and has an interest and experience in Sharia compliant fiduciary structures. He also advises trustees, employers and other professionals on a wide range of Jersey employee benefit and pension related matters. In addition, James will consider utilising over 20 years' experience in advising trustees and high-net families on non-contentious trust matters, family governance and avoiding trust disputes to act as a protector on family trusts when requested by Ogier clients to do so.
