After Sunak publishes details of his tax affairs, Miles Dean, Head of International Tax at Andersen LLP, comments: “It’s a sad day when the Prime Minister deems it necessary to publish a summary of his tax returns. The prevailing assumption is that he’s a mega-rich ex banker who doesn’t understand the pressures of cost of living for most people. His critics hold that he must publish his tax returns or be assumed guilty – but they are of course unable to specify any offence. What does this crass mob mentality achieve? The PM needs to focus on the real matters rather than this PR circus sideshow.”
