Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.

I am a partner in the 20 strong family team at Hunters Law LLP and sit on the firm’s management board and remuneration committee. I specialise in finances on divorce.

What does a typical day look like for you?

An unpredictable blend of client work and management – clients first!

Tell us about some recent, interesting client instructions/requests you have received.

Lots of work in cases involving private equity; recently instructed by the spouse of a prominent YouTuber which is pulling the team into new areas of investigation.

What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?

There’s often a colossal power imbalance in relationships which plays through into the divorce; a key part of my role is to restore the balance and help my clients through a very tough time in their lives.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

Client wise, getting a fair settlement for my client in the case of ES v SS, after discovering a huge undisclosed deal being done by their spouse. Otherwise, seeing my younger colleagues flourish and excel.

What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?

Listening and then acting decisively.

Who do you most admire and why?

In law, several barristers I’ve had the pleasure seeing advocating; sparing the blushes of those still at the bar, I’d pick out Alan Boyle KC and Martin Pointer KC;

Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?

St Lucia, which was definitely for pleasure. And Worthing, which was not.

If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?

That’s easy; running a delicatessen (think Monmouth coffee and loads of Parma ham and cheese) with two friends (they know who they are because we talk about it a lot).

How do you relax after a long day?

Not as easy. Our office is in the beautiful New Square in Lincoln’s Inn, so walking through there and then across Waterloo Bridge is a very good way of switching off, usually accompanied by the Rest is History, to which I am unashamedly addicted.
