Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role. We are partners in the private wealth team in Broadfield.

I am focused on international tax structuring advice for internationally mobile clients, often with offshore trust or foundation structures, including where there are US persons.

What does a typical day look like for you?

For me, it is focused on advising our international clients on tax particularly where there are offshore trusts.

Tell us about some recent, interesting client instructions/requests you have received.

I am providing urgent tax planning advice for a beneficiary of an offshore trust within her first and final year of the FIG regime. I am also working with a client looking to “lock in” 100% business relief before tax year end.

What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?

The new IHT regime for trusts in particular is a challenge for many clients, though US clients may in some cases benefit from the generous provisions of the UK/US IHT treaty.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

I am excited to have joined the editorial board of Wealth Briefing, which I am thrilled to be a part of.

What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?

I think clarity of one’s goals, good interpersonal skills, clear communication, keenness to bring people along with me and, like Jonathan says, humility. Lack of shouting and a sense of humour helps (Katherine).”

Who do you most admire and why?

(Katherine) Itzhak Perlman (the violinist). I love to listen to Itzhak Perlman playing Schubert’s Serenade.

Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?

I love visiting Gibraltar and catching up with clients and contacts there.

If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?

A singer. I am a keen member of my daughter’s primary school parent/staff choir.

How do you relax after a long day?

I love to cook. I make a fabulous game pie.
