Citywealth Leaders List, 60 seconds interview – Parveen Abbas, Druces
This week’s 60 seconds Citywealth Leaders List interview is dedicated to Parveen Abbas, Partner and Head of Residential Property at Druces.

Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.
I lead a talented residential property team, balancing complex legal negotiations, and mentoring staff. A typical day involves reviewing high-value contracts, advising on strategic acquisitions, leading team strategy meetings, and connecting with clients, here and abroad.
Tell us about some recent, interesting client instructions/requests you have received.
I recently acted for an overseas client purchasing a luxury London development off-plan, requiring complex negotiations regarding long-stop dates. Another highlight was guiding HNW family on the purchase of an Eaton Square apartment, being sold by receivers; to be exchanged in less than ten days.
What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?
Clients frequently face unpredictable market shifts and complex, fast-changing tax regulations. Together with our private wealth and corporate teams we help them overcome this by providing bespoke legal structures, and clear, commercial advice that secures their investment against potential volatility.
What is your proudest professional achievement?
Successfully leading the department during a challenging economic cycle, geo-political uncertainties, by increasing our client base while maintaining a high success rate on high-value, complex transactions.
What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?
I believe the most important attributes are clarity of vision, decisiveness under pressure, empathy for team members, and acommitment to mentorship.
Who do you most admire and why?
I greatly admire Roy Campbell (our senior partner) for his never-ending enthusiasm, despite the pressures of our work and for simply being a joy to be around.
Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?
My last trip was a combination of business and pleasure to New York to meet with private banking partners and take in the rich cultural heritage.
If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?
If I was not a lawyer, I might be a travel artist, visiting historic places around the world, and try to capture their beauty, in oils.
How do you relax after a long day?
To unwind after a busy day, I enjoy long walks with my family or finding a quiet, calm moments for reading, allowing me to fully recharge.
