The latest edition of Design Miami Paris
For the latest edition of Design Miami Paris, Galerie Patrick Seguin is delighted to present a carefully selected collection of iconic pieces by Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret.

In the garden of the Hôtel de Maisons, as part of Design at Large, the gallery will also showcase a 6×6 demountable house by Jean Prouvé, entirely reconfigured as a traditional Japanese tea house. At the heart of the presentation, a lounge area unites works by all three designers. Arranged around a Forme Libre coffee table by Charlotte Perriand (c.1956) in solid oak are a Sofa set by Pierre Jeanneret (c. 1955), designed for government offices in Chandigarh, India, and a no. 150 sideboard by Jean Prouvé (c.1950). Opposite this collection is a selection of furniture in tones of red, underlining the structural force of Jean Prouvé’s work and the evolution of his constructional vocabulary. Included are a BM11 metal desk (c.1946) and a Direction no. 353 swivelling office chair (1951), both with the same provenance, alongside a Fauteuil léger no. 356 known as the Antony chair (1955).
Drawing on his understanding of materials and their properties, Prouvé rejected any distinction between design and production; in his mind, form was led by structure, production constraints and function. Each element thereby served a structural purpose, lending his creations an expression that is both precise and instantly understandable. This constructional philosophy extends into the garden of the Hôtel de Maisons, where as part of Design at Large, Galerie Patrick Seguin is showing a 6×6 demountable house (1944) by Jean Prouvé.
For this presentation, the gallery has chosen to move away from the pavilion’s original use. By reconfiguring its interior space, the gallery offers a new interpretation inspired by the chashitsu, the traditional Japanese pavilion dedicated to the tea ceremony. Designed in natural materials such as wood, it introduces a subtle dialogue between the western architecture of Jean Prouvé and the Japanese way of life. This new reading reflects Jean Prouvé’s close ties with Japan and highlights the deep-lying affinities between Jean Prouvé’s approach and the Japanese aesthetic, both rooted in a shared quest for simplicity, lightness and essence. These two parallel presentations reveal the distinctive nature of the works of Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret, highlighting the remarkable unity of dialogue that emerges between their creations, furniture and architecture.
