London Art Fair opens for 2024
From 17-21 January, the London Art Fair provides an exceptional line-up of Modern and Contemporary Art galleries from across the globe. Taking place at the Business Design Centre in Islington, the showcasing galleries represent the top established and emerging artists in their disciplines.

London Art Fair was founded in 1989 by London’s Business Design Centre in Islington with the aim of providing a space to showcase exceptional Modern and Contemporary Art, to discover and to buy. The Fair originally launch with just 36 UK galleries, but has grown over the years, with over 100 galleries now regularly exhibiting and 25,000 visitors in attendance. London Art Fair provides an established home for Modern British Art, whilst embracing an increasingly international and contemporary outlook, with new galleries from around the world.
The Fair will also provides expert insights into innovative curatorial concepts in contemporary art through its critically acclaimed curated spaces: Encounters, offering a platform for the next generation of artists and gallerists; Photo50; showcasing current trends in contemporary photographic practice; and Platform in featuring a selection of galleries presenting well-known, overlooked and emerging artists that align to an overarching annually changing theme.
Over 120 galleries will be showing at this year’s fair, including Austin/Desmond Fine Art; RAW Editions; Elizabeth Xi Bauer; David Messums Fine Art; and Janet Rady Fine Art. Janet Rady will be showcasing works by esteemed artists Paul Ettedgui and Ghada Khunji.
At the ‘Encounters’ section of the Fair (E14), Janet Rady present ‘Paul Ettedgui | City Pathways’, which marks Ettedgui’s second solo exhibition with our gallery. His collection, spanning from 2021 to 2023, delves into the intricate relationship between humanity and the metropolis. Ettedgui’s profound exploration of London’s essence, blending inhabitants with the architectural tapestry that frames their existence, encapsulates the city’s pulse through his multi-layered paintings. His work, from the frenzy of daytime commuters to the nocturnal hum of the city, captures vivid snapshots frozen in time, echoing the infrastructure that shapes urban life.
Janet Rady Fine Art will also be introducing Ghada Khunji’s ‘FaRIDA Series’ at the 2024 Platform section of theFair (P4). Inspired by London Art Fair’s 2024 partnership with Charleston, the modernist home of painters Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, the Platform section of the fair brings together art that shines a light on queer love and life selected by guest curator Gemma Rolls-Bentley.
Khunji’s work reflects her journey from documentary photography in New York to Bahrain, where her experimentation with photomontage became a vehicle for self-examination. Through the ‘FaRIDA Series,’ she reimagines Kahlo’s iconic self-portraits, infusing her own narrative and symbolism, reflecting on societal norms, heritage, and the enduring strength of women in the face of adversity.
Day, multi-day and group passes are currently available to book. Additionally, the Fair is hosting its ‘Thursday Late’, which provides visitors the opportunity to experience the Fairfrom 5-9pm, with live performances, complimentary drinks and DJ sets all working together to curate the ideal after-work activity. Pre-booking is essential and tickets are on sale here.
