On the occasion of TEFAF New York (14-19 May 2026), Galerie Patrick Seguin is delighted to present a major showcase entirely devoted to the historic architectural work of Jean Prouvé.

Widely regarded as one of the leading specialists in his work, the gallery brings together 12 examples of Prouvé’s demountable architecture designed between 1939 and 1956, presented through maquettes, archival material and film documentation. Conceived as a structured display, the presentation offers both a historical and technical reading of the constructive system Prouvé developed across multiple scales and functions, from emergency housing units and reconstruction models to school, office and domestic buildings.

Among the centrepieces are the Villa Lopez (1953) presented to the public for the first time, and a monumental 3.3m Centrale table (1952-1956), both exceptionally collectible works. Designed for the Antony Cité Universitaire student residences, the table encapsulates Prouvé’s research into folded steel and his conviction that furniture and architecture should follow the same constructive principles.

The wider selection includes the SCAL pavilion (1940), the BCC house created with Pierre Jeanneret (1941), the 6×6 and 6×9 emergency housing units (1944), the 2015 adaptation of the 6×6 house by Richard Rogers, and the 8×8 reconstruction unit (1945). Also featured are the Carnac vacation house (1946), the Better Days house (1956), and school and office buildings such as the Croismare glassmaking school (1948) and the Maxéville design office (1948), tracing key chapters in Jean Prouvé’s architectural thinking. The unique architecture of the Valenceaude school (1954) will also be shown to the public for the very first time.
