Deadline to contribute to features below.

Over the coming weeks, Citywealth will be editorially spotlighting seven of the most influential wealth centres across the Americas: New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami & Latin America, California, Texas and Washington DC/International US. We are keen to hear from advisers, private bankers, wealth managers, family office executives, trustees, tax specialists and lawyers who work in these markets, or who advise clients with interests there, whether they are based in the US, the UK or elsewhere. We would welcome your thoughts on the trends, opportunities and challenges shaping private wealth in each location, from changing client priorities and succession planning to investment trends, cross-border structuring, philanthropy, family governance and the mobile families or movement of international wealth.

There are several ways to participate. You may wish to contribute a short commentary – send us some words on developments in your chosen market, submit a longer article on wealth trends or family dynamics, or take part in our popular 60-Second Interview series – just let us know and we can send you a set of questions for written reply or include you in one of the state/country features.

We are also compiling Top 10 Advisors and Wealth Managers for each featured location and would be grateful if you could nominate up to three outstanding individuals whom you regard as influential, respected and currently active in that market. Self-nominations are welcome. Submit here or reply to the email.

We look forward to hearing the views of those advising wealthy families, entrepreneurs and family offices across these important wealth centres.

General questions to think around

  • Are wealthy families moving state by state, moving overseas, or staying put and restructuring instead?
  • Which matters more today in private wealth planning: federal tax policy or state residency?
  • Is the US becoming a collection of competing wealth jurisdictions, with California, New York, Florida and Texas increasingly operating under very different wealth planning realities?
  • What are clients most concerned about right now: tax, litigation, privacy, asset protection, succession, divorce or political uncertainty?
  • Are families choosing domestic trust jurisdictions such as Delaware, South Dakota and Wyoming more often, or are offshore centres retaining their appeal?
  • What assets are clients most commonly placing into trust structures today?
  • Has life insurance become one of the most important tools in modern wealth structuring and succession planning?
  • Where are the biggest litigation risks emerging for wealthy families?
  • How has philanthropy changed following reductions in government-backed international aid and growing pressure on private capital to fill funding gaps?
  • What is the one issue wealthy families should be planning for now that most are currently overlooking?
