Pallant House Bookshop is delighted to offer its customers the unique opportunity to purchase a selection of original works by the artist Geoffrey Robinson.

Taking his cue from William Scott, Ben Nicholson, Mary Fedden and other painters of the St Ives School, Robinson is noted for his personal style of lyrical abstraction, producing paintings which confidently integrate abstract and representational impulses into a punchy and vibrant whole. Geoffrey’s work has been widely exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in numerous public and private collections.

“My artist’s roots will always be firmly fixed in abstraction. Over the years this has meant that every painting I have ever made has always been a playground for the negative spaces, the perspectives of colour and tone, the dynamism of line, the utilization of intentional accident, the use of texture, and so much more that comes from the abstract. But what I discovered, and then cherished for so many years in the studio was the narrative created by the abstract arrangement of imagined objects, creatures and people. There are still paintings available from this period of my life. You may find something here. ”

Due to the size of this framed work we are unable to offer delivery on this item, and so it is available for collection from our shop only.

Geoffrey Robinson (b.1945) studied at Bournemouth College of Art and after a career in advertising and music, began painting full-time in the 1990s.

He has established a personal style of lyrical abstraction with his work paying homage to cultural references from his childhood in the 1950s and 1960s. The language of abstraction, still life and decorative imagery in his work produces paintings that are nostalgic, iconic and contemplative.
