Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.

I’m Executive Vice President at Plumb Bill Pay, where I help lead our strategy, growth and client experience. A large part of my role is working closely with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, family offices and their advisors to understand the operational complexities behind their financial lives and determine how Plumb can best support them. I’m also very involved in developing our advisor relationships, expanding our service offering and ensuring that we continue to grow without losing the highly personal level of service our clients expect.

What does a typical day look like for you?

There really isn’t a typical day, which is one of the things I enjoy most about my role. I may start the morning speaking with a wealth advisor about a prospective client, spend part of the day working with our team on an onboarding or complex client situation, and then shift to strategic initiatives around technology, service delivery or growth. I also stay closely involved with our existing clients and referral partners. My days tend to sit at the intersection of client service, relationship management and strategy.

Tell us about some recent, interesting client instructions/requests you have received.

We continue to see families looking for help managing increasingly complex financial lives. Recent conversations have involved coordinating expenses across multiple residences and entities, managing significant household and travel-related spending, creating stronger oversight around vendor payments and supporting advisors who want better visibility across their clients’ day-to-day financial activity.

We are also seeing growing interest from wealth management firms that want to offer family office-style services without building the operational infrastructure internally. Those conversations are particularly interesting because they require us to think about how our people, processes and technology can integrate seamlessly into an advisor’s existing client experience.

What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?

Complexity is one of the biggest challenges. As wealth grows, so does the number of accounts, entities, properties, vendors, professionals and financial responsibilities involved. Even very sophisticated families can find that the administrative side of their financial lives becomes fragmented and difficult to oversee.

Our role is to bring structure to that complexity. We centralize bill payment, cash management, accounting and reporting while coordinating with the client’s broader advisory team. Just as importantly, we put controls around everyday financial activity so families have greater visibility, consistency and peace of mind without having to personally manage every detail.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

I’m incredibly proud of the growth of Plumb and the team we’ve built around our clients. We now serve more than 300 families nationwide, but what matters most to me is that we have been able to grow while maintaining the high-touch service and trust that our business was built on.

I’m also proud of how we’ve evolved alongside the wealth management industry. We are increasingly becoming an extension of the advisory teams we work with, helping them deliver a more complete family office experience to their clients.

What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?

Trust, accountability and empathy. I think strong leaders set clear expectations and make decisions, but they also listen. You have to understand what your clients, colleagues and team members are experiencing before you can lead them effectively.

I also believe consistency is incredibly important. People should know what they can expect from you, particularly when challenges arise.

Who do you most admire and why?

I most admire people who lead with humility, work hard and genuinely care about the people around them. I’ve been fortunate to have family members and mentors in my life who have modeled those qualities, and they’ve had a big influence on how I approach both my work and my relationships. I especially admire people who use their success and experience to serve others and make a positive difference in their communities.

Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?

The last big trip we took was to Europe as a family. Our kids have been to Europe before, but we wanted to continue exposing them to new places and cultures within Europe while also spending time with my family in Germany. It was a great mix of exploring new destinations together, experiencing different cultures and traditions, and reconnecting with family.

If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?

Probably something entrepreneurial and people-focused. I’ve always enjoyed building relationships, solving problems and creating things that make people’s lives easier. I could also see myself working in the nonprofit space, particularly in a role where I could serve and support our local community while still bringing together people, ideas and resources to make a meaningful impact.

How do you relax after a long day?

Spending time with family and friends is probably the best way for me to switch off. We live on a small farm, so I also really enjoy being outside, surrounded by nature and our animals. After a busy day, there’s something very grounding about stepping away from work, walking around the property, checking on the horses, goats, chickens or just enjoying the outdoors. It gives me a chance to recharge, slow down and appreciate the people and things around me.
