Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.

I’m a Senior Investment Director at Rathbones Investment Management International, based in Guernsey. I provide investment advice and discretionary management to a wide range of clients including private individuals, corporates, and trusts. I’ll be stepping into the role of leading our Guernsey team in April, which is an exciting milestone. I originally joined Investec Wealth & Investment in 2021 and following the merger with Rathbones we’re delighted to now be represented under the Rathbones brand in the island.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My day starts early (!) I have a four‑month‑old baby, a horse and a very energetic border collie, so I often feel as though I’ve lived an entire day before I even reach the office. Once I’m in at around 8am, I prepare for client meetings, review portfolios, place trades, action client requests and work through approvals. The mornings disappear quickly; I regularly look up at midday and wonder how it arrived so fast. Afternoons are usually spent catching up on client and portfolio administration after meetings.

Tell us about some recent, interesting client instructions or requests.

We’ve seen a noticeable increase in enquiries from people relocating to Guernsey  – whether to be closer to family, pursue business opportunities or simply enjoy a quieter pace of life. It’s wonderful to see how many people value the island’s authenticity and character. On a more unusual note, I recently helped a client relocate their horse from the UK and secure a place for it here, which is no small task given the high demand for equestrian facilities. Portfolio‑wise, markets and geopolitical events are keeping us very much on our toes.

What challenges do your clients face, and how do you help them overcome them?

The biggest challenge is the sheer volume of market noise. There is always something to worry about and the constant flow of information can be overwhelming. We help clients cut through that by building long‑term, suitable investment strategies and managing them with discipline and transparency. Knowing their capital is being stewarded by people and a firm they trust gives them confidence through uncertainty.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

Winning the CityWealth IFC  ‘Investment Professional of the Year’ award for the Channel Islands and Isle of Man was a real honour and a moment I’m incredibly proud of.

What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?

Humility, tenacity and self‑awareness.

Who do you most admire and why?

Having just returned to work after having a baby, I have huge admiration for parents and caregivers who somehow manage to juggle everything. Parenthood is very much like a swan – calm on the surface, paddling furiously underneath. I also deeply admire people who dedicate their lives to philanthropic work and make meaningful change, even in small ways.

Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?

Geneva for work – what a beautiful place!

If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?

Something involving animals or perhaps wedding planning.
