Citywealth Leaders List, 60 second interview – Sam Adcock, JM Finn
This week’s 60 seconds Citywealth Leaders List interview is dedicated to Sam Adcock, Investment Manager at JM Finn.

Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.
I am an Investment Manager focussing on charity and private client portfolios. I help charities provide sustained financial support to their beneficiaries by investing pots of money to generate regular income and capital growth. I also help people of all ages invest towards their future, whether that be saving for a house or planning their retirement.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My day starts any time before 8am when the London markets open, working through company announcements and client emails with my morning cup of tea. Bloomberg News is always on around the office which sparks the types of conversations about stocks that got us investment managers interested in the industry in the first place! We regularly have meetings with trustees to keep them abreast of markets, review their investments and to develop the personal relationship that clients tell us they really value.
What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?
Our clients face dealing with lots of uncertainties around their finances and preparing for the future and helping to provide clarity in a complex investment world is a huge part of the job. By combining a well-constructed portfolio with close contact and clear communication, we can guide our clients through sometimes complex and uncertain markets to achieve good long-term outcomes.
What is your proudest professional achievement?
Setting up the Sports & Social committee over 2 years ago has enabled us to provide an opportunity for people from across the business to get involved in some (occasionally ultra-competitive) sport and interact with people they don’t come across day by day which helps build the good atmosphere that exists at JM Finn.
What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?
Integrity, empathy and a sense of ‘leading from within’.
Who do you most admire and why?
Anyone running their own business, wearing multiple hats from driving sales and marketing, developing the product and producing the accounts the list really is endless!
Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?
I had the pleasure (or displeasure) of heading over to Australia for the Ashes cricket tour at the back end of 2025. Needless to say, I didn’t let some dismal cricket get in the way of enjoying the sun, beaches and lifestyle on offer down under.
If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?
I’d love to say representing my country in a sport, but unfortunately I think a serious skills gap exists in that department. I have a friend that’s an excellent sports journalist and travels the world in his role, so something like that would certainly pique my interest.
