Anita heads our International Private Client Tax team. She specialises in planning for internationally mobile clients, offshore trustees and fiduciaries. The areas on which she advises include residence (planning for both arriving in and leaving the UK), domicile/long-term residence, estates and succession, complex offshore structures, including those with UK residential property, trust and charity formation, HMRC investigations and tax and regulatory compliance.

Experience

Anita joined the firm as a Partner in May 2017. She previously worked at another leading private client firm for 16 years, having trained in the Big Four and spending two years at a private bank. Anita has more than 30 years’ tax experience, over 25 of which have been in the private client sector.

Anita has a varied client base made up of internationally mobile families and individuals, offshore and UK trustees and other fiduciary service providers, UK based high net-worth individuals and executives and their families.

She provides strategic advice to clients in relation to their own tax affairs and their offshore structures. She ensures that compliance and regulatory obligations are fulfilled and assists with HMRC investigations. Anita’s expertise lies in residence and domicile/long-term residence, family wealth, trusts and structures and succession.

Notable client work and achievements

Extensive experience advising Formula 1 motor sport professionals and artists in relation to both UK and international matters

Instructing Accountant in the recent First Tier Tax Tribunal case of Louwman v HMRC, which challenged the HMRC treatment of offshore income gains in UK settlor-interested offshore trusts

Advised on the reorganisation of a highly complex high value structure with multiple trusts and companies spanning five jurisdictions

Provided advice to the UK based executives of a multi-jurisdictional corporate group in relation to a global restructuring of the business

Assisted multiple clients with complex tax investigations concerning domicile, residence, non-UK estates and trusts and other domestic and international aspects
