Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt
Penny Mordaunt was a Parliamentarian for 14 years, holding nine ministerial roles, four in Cabinet. She was the first and only woman to be Secretary of State for Defence, having also been the first and only woman to be Minister for the Armed Forces. As Paymaster General she was the UK’s first cross-government defensive cyber lead and led the rebuild of the UK’s civil contingencies and resilience strategy.
She was Secretary of State for International Development, working with UN agencies, international organisations and she was the UK’s representative at the World Bank. As Trade Minister she brokered new trade deals, oversaw the UK’s accession to CPTPP and established economic agreements with US states, in lieu of a federal deal. In doing so she undertook the longest tour of the US of any Minister since Churchill during WWII. She was also on the Withdrawal Agreement Joint Committee overseeing the UK’s exit from the EU. She has held other roles in local government, work, health, pensions and disability. Prior to Parliament she worked across all sectors and also in US politics as Head of Foreign Press for the RNC during the Bush 2000 campaign.
She was a Royal Navy Reservist for 10 years and is now an Honorary Captain affiliated to MCM2 Squadron, the UK’s mine hunters and bomb disposal divers. She is co-author of Greater: Britain after the storm, which made bestseller lists in the UK and the US. She came to the public’s attention in the role of Leader of the Commons and Lord President of the Council, presiding over the Accession Council following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and at the coronation of King Charles III. She was among Gracia and Vogue’s most influential women of the year.
Rt Hon Lord Brady of Altrincham
Graham Brady was the MP for Altrincham and Sale West from 1997 to 2024 and the Chairman of the 1922 Committee of backbench Conservative MPs 2010 to 2024. He was made a Knight Batchelor in 2018 and appointed to the Privy Council in 2023, when he was also awarded the Freedom of the City of London. He was appointed a Life Peer as Lord Brady of Altrincham in the 2024 dissolution honours list.
The 1922 Committee is the principal conduit for communication between Conservative MPs and the Prime Minister and Conservative Ministers and advises the Prime Minister on the mood of the party whilst ensuring that Ministers have an opportunity to speak to colleagues and to listen to their views on policy.
Graham is well known to be independent minded and a champion of state grammar schools, having resigned from the front bench in 2007 to campaign in support of selective education. He was awarded ‘Backbencher of the Year’ by The Spectator in 2010.
Graham has previously served as a shadow minister, holding the schools, employment, as well as the Europe brief. Graham also served on the Education and Employment Select Committee from 1997-2001 and the Treasury Select Committee from 2007-2010.
Graham has been appointed to the Sutton Trust’s Board of Trustees in July 2024.
Prior to his election in 1997, Graham was Public Affairs Director of the Waterfront Partnership. He had previously worked at the Centre for Policy Studies and Shandwick Plc. Graham studied law at Durham University. He is married to Victoria, and they have a daughter and a son.
Prince Michael of Liechtenstein
Prince Michael of Liechtenstein graduated from the Vienna University of Economics and Business with a master’s degree in business administration. During his studies, he worked with banks and manufacturing companies in Canada, the United States and Belgium. From 1978 to 1987 he worked for Nestlé SA in the fields of controlling, marketing and management in various markets throughout Europe and Africa.
In 1987 he returned to Liechtenstein where he took over the position of Managing Director with Industrie- und Finanzkontor Ets., a leading trust company with tradition and expertise in long-term, multi-generational preservation of wealth, family values and businesses. Today, Prince Michael of Liechtenstein is the company’s executive chairman.
He is also founder and chairman of Geopolitical Intelligence Services AG, publisher of Der Pragmaticus and a co-founder of the International Institute of Longevity and Longevity Center.
Prince Michael of Liechtenstein is a member of various professional organizations such as STEP, and is Chairman of the European Center of Austrian Economics Foundation in Vaduz.
Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE DL
Lord Karan Bilimoria is the founder of Cobra Beer, Chairman of the Cobra Beer Partnership Limited, a Joint Venture with Molson Coors. In the Monde Selection, one of the most prestigious quality awards in the world for beer, the Cobra range have collectively been awarded a total of 131 Gold and Grand Gold medals since 2001, making it one of the most awarded beers in the world.
Lord Bilimoria is the Founding Chairman of the UK India Business Council, a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London, a former Chancellor of Thames Valley University (now the University of West London); he was the youngest University Chancellor in the UK when appointed. Karan was a former Senior Non-Executive Director of the Booker Group now TESCO PLC (2007-2016); he is one of the first two visiting entrepreneurs at the University of Cambridge; he is a founding member of the Prime Minister of India’s Global Advisory Council. In 2006, Karan Bilimoria was appointed the Lord Bilimoria of Chelsea, making him the first ever Zoroastrian Parsi to sit in the House of Lords.
