Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.
I am a partner at WR Immigration in Los Angeles, where I advise companies, entrepreneurs and investors on U.S. immigration matters. My practice is divided principally between investment-based immigration (EB-5 & E-2) and employment based immigration.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I might help a company transfer an executive, advise an entrepreneur starting a U.S. business or work with an EB-5 investor but each day ends up being and an adventure. I start each day with a plan but in immigration law there are deadlines, policy changes and last-minute travel issues that always keep it interesting.
Tell us about some recent, interesting client instructions or requests you have received.
Recently, I have been helping professionals and entrepreneurs file EB-5 cases before the September 30, 2026, grandfathering deadline. Much of the work involves tracing savings built over many years through salaries, stock compensation, businesses, real estate and accounts in different countries.
What challenges do your clients face, and how are you helping them overcome them?
Uncertainty is the biggest challenge. Immigration policies and procedures can and do shift while clients are making major, long-term decisions. My job is to give clear advice, plan ahead and keep their options open.
What is your proudest professional achievement?
I am proudest of the relationships I have built over the years. Some clients first came to me early in their careers. I have since watched them build businesses, become leaders and create opportunities for others. That is very rewarding.
What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?
Integrity, good judgment and listening. A leader should give clear direction, take responsibility when things go wrong and share credit when things go well.
Who do you most admire and why?
I admire people who leave behind what is familiar to build a new life in another country. I see that courage and optimism in many of my clients.
Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?
Most clients are comfortable with Zoom and understandably do not want to pay for first-class international travel and travel time. But something is lost on a screen. My last business trip was to Singapore, where a client wanted to discuss sensitive financial matters in person. It reminded me how much more you learn about a client when you sit down together.
If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?
Probably teaching. I enjoy explaining complicated subjects in practical terms and helping people see how the pieces fit together.
How do you relax after a long day?
I live near the beach in Southern California. I enjoy spending time with my family along the coast and getting away from my desk.
