Citywealth Leaders List, 60 second interview – Marco Mesina, Move to Dolce Vita
This week’s 60 seconds Citywealth Leaders List interview is dedicated to Marco Mesina, Founder – Tax Lawyer at Move to Dolce Vita.

Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.
I am an Italian tax attorney and the founder of Move to Dolce Vita, a boutique tax and legal advisory firm assisting high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs and internationally mobile families with relocations to Italy and broader cross-border planning. My role sits at the intersection of strategic tax structuring, international mobility and practical execution, helping clients navigate Italy while coordinating solutions across multiple jurisdictions.
What does a typical day look like for you?
No two days are the same. A typical day involves calls with international clients across multiple time zones, drafting tax analyses or advance rulings for the Italian tax authorities, and coordinating with a network of professionals to address multi-jurisdictional residency and structuring scenarios. I work closely with immigration, real estate and international advisors to ensure that each relocation or restructuring project is aligned globally, not just locally.
Tell us about some recent, interesting client instructions/requests you have received.
Recently, I have assisted several ultra-high-net-worth individuals and international entrepreneurs planning full relocations to Italy under the flat tax regime, often alongside parallel planning involving other jurisdictions. These projects typically require pre-immigration restructuring, family considerations and careful coordination across different legal and tax systems.
What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?
Clients often face uncertainty around tax residency, exit strategies, compliance risks and timing, especially when multiple countries are involved. I help by providing clarity, anticipating risks before they arise, and designing tailored, long-term solutions that integrate Italian tax planning within a wider international framework.
What is your proudest professional achievement?
Founding my own firm, Move to Dolce Vita, at the age of 35. It has been the biggest professional bet of my life so far. Building an independent practice from scratch, with an international outlook and a strong focus on trust and long-term strategy, has been both challenging and deeply rewarding.
What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?
Clarity, responsibility and integrity. A leader must be able to simplify complexity, take ownership of decisions and act with a long-term mindset, particularly in cross-border environments where decisions have lasting consequences.
Who do you most admire and why?
I admire professionals who combine technical depth with vision and independence of thought. In international advisory work, the ability to challenge assumptions and think beyond borders is what truly sets leaders apart.
Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?
Southeast Asia. It was a combination of work and personal time, and travelling regularly helps me stay connected to the realities of globally mobile clients.
If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?
If I had approached life with a different mindset, I might have pursued a career in music. I have always been passionate about playing the drum, which remains an important creative outlet alongside my professional work.
How do you relax after a long day?
I usually unwind by going to the gym or mentally switching off by planning a short trip or weekend getaway. Physical activity and travel help me reset and maintain balance.
If you could recommend one person in the private wealth industry who would it be, and what would you say about them?
François Botha of Simple. Through Simple, he is redefining how modern family offices operate, particularly through the intelligent use of technology and AI. His work is pushing the industry toward greater transparency, efficiency and forward-thinking governance, setting a new benchmark for the future of family office management.
