Advising on family trusts

I am one of the trustees and advise a large family in relation to their complex multiple trust structure which recently involved a Variation of Trusts application. It is necessary to keep in mind all of the generations who have different financial requirements, issues arise such as the availability of inheritance tax reliefs for the assets in the long established family business together with advising on general succession planning for the family.

Cross border

Advising a married couple who had different European domiciles who currently reside in Hong Kong with assets in seven different jurisdictions in relation to their succession planning and Wills.

Personal injury trusts

Advising individuals who have unfortunately suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury by advising on and setting up personal injury trusts for their high value compensation award. As a director of the firm‘s trust corporation, I work closely with the administration team and with investment managers to support the client.

I am involved in high net worth Court of Protection (COP) work to include appointing a deputy and making general COP applications such as for statutory wills/codicils and gifts. To include a Statutory Will and Gift application for a married couple who did not have Wills and the success of these two applications gave the couple a substantial inheritance tax.
