The House was designed in 1820 by popular architect William Atkinson, following a commission by Walter Montagu Douglas Scott, the 5th Duke of Buccleuch. Historically, the house served as the home of the Queensberry Estate’s factor until it was refurbished by the 10th Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch in the 1980s, as a family home for themselves and their four children. Meticulously restored to its former glory, the House has been upgraded to accommodate the modern guest. Amenities include a sauna, a well-appointed treatment room, heated kennels, a grass tennis court and catering kitchen.

Effortlessly blending country house elegance and modern hospitality, Dabton is the ideal setting for a grand gathering or intimate escape. With eleven luxuriously appointed ensuite bedrooms and ample reception areas, the property also boasts a four-acre formal garden amongst 27 acres of tranquil mixed woodland.

Dabton not only caters to those with an aesthetic eye, but is also a food lover’s paradise. With its own kitchen garden and access to Scotland’s finest natural ingredients, as well as established links with local suppliers and a roster of talented chefs to work their magic, every foodie need can be catered for.

If you can be dragged out of the House itself, the picturesque Queensberry Estate serves as a delicious backdrop, home to miles of way-marked walking, cycling and mountain biking route, with bike and e-bike hire available on site. Alternatively, there are activities abound, with the option of booking a day’s fishing, trying simulated game shooting, or putting yourself and your guests through your paces with a go at the Scottish Assault Courses, or a trip to the adventure playground for the young ones. Cultural offerings are available as well, including a tour of Drumlanrig Castle and an afternoon tea whilst you’re there. The wider region hosts the Robert Burns Heritage Trail, Crawick Multiverse land art installation, Kirkudbright Arts & Crafts trail, and Wigtown Book Festival.

Alasdair Knight, General Manager of Dabton House, said: “Steeped in history and surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, Dabton House presents a truly enchanting retreat for guests seeking a luxurious escape. Whether it’s hosting grand celebrations, weddings, sporting parties, corporate gatherings, or simply cherishing precious moments with family members, Dabton House is the perfect choice.”
