Nominations are in for Guernsey’s second island-wide election of 38 deputies on 18 June. One of the candidates, who first entered Guernsey politics in 2020, is Steve Falla. Steve is vice president of the Committee for Economic Development and sits on the board of Guernsey Finance.

Prior to going into politics he had a 30-year career in public relations during which he represented business from all sectors of Guernsey’s finance centre.

He now wants to put himself forward to be president of Economic Development and he emphasises his firm supporter of the industry.

“Guernsey’s mature international finance centre is in great shape, as endorsed by its recent highly successful Moneyval evaluation. It’s essential that Guernsey’s future government continues to partner with and support the industry which plays a critical part in the overall economic wellbeing of the island,” he said.

“Future support will need to include significant financial backing for Guernsey Finance to maintain and enhance our position in the global financial arena. Equally important will be listening to the industry to understand what it needs from government so that it can continue to innovate and thrive. This will include ensuring that government, industry and regulator work hand-in-hand to build on Guernsey’s success.

“I want to work more closely with, and communicate better with, those who are driving Guernsey’s leading global finance centre.”

Karen Jones, Founder and Editor at Citywealth adds her comment in support of Falla. “Having worked with Steve during his time at Orchard PR, we have had great contact with Guernsey financial services businesses and oversight of restaurants and life in Guernsey. He has constantly gone out of his way to introduce us to clients and officials to help the island promote itself fully to UK Plc. I fully support and recommend Steve in his further endeavours to participate in public life.”
