This week’s 60-second piece is dedicated to Chloe Leung, Partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm.

Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.

I am a Partner in the Private Client Department of Zhong Lun. My practice is focused on addressing clients’ concerns on tax, estate planning, family governance, philanthropy, corporate and mergers and acquisitions. I regularly advise high-net worth clients in structuring their worldwide assets and devising tax efficient estate plans. I also advise banks and institutions in setting up trustee operations in Hong Kong, and act for clients and trustees in contentious estate and trust fights.

What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?

Our clients face constant changes in laws and growing conflicts of laws in the globalized but tension-filled world. We try to advise clients holistically and stay alert and ahead of the game.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

My proudest achievement to date was successfully resolving an extremely challenging cross-border estate matter by providing an unusual but innovative solution to the client which no prior counsel of the client thought of.

What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?

In no particular order, I think the most important attributes of a leader is to have vision, earn (not command) respect and be resilient. Tough times don’t last, tough teams do!

Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?

Bhutan, the Land of Happiness. Life is too short to hold grudges. Let’s embrace happiness and live in the present!

If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?

Hotel and hospitality? Delivering excellent customer service has always been my goal.

How do you relax after a long day?

A glass of red makes my day!
