Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.

I have been working in wealth planning for affluent clients for over 20 years and have served as a Trustee and family office advisor for various families for several years. Today, I am Partner of my own firm, Violetta & Partners, Milan, where I am responsible for Trusts and Wealth Planning.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

I live in Como, near the renowned lake, and depending on my schedule, I decide whether to go to my offices in central Milan, visit clients and their advisors, or participate as a speaker or guest at training events.

Tell us about some recent, interesting client instructions/requests you have received.

Recently, I was asked to address a case involving a parent with multiple children from different partners – some of whom were married to the parent, others not – who wants to plan the generational transfer of their company before they remarry.

What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?

There is a significant cultural gap in financial matters in Italy. This exacerbates the confusion of many entrepreneurs who have chosen to sell their family businesses and find themselves uninformed and often victims of systems they cannot navigate. This, in addition to the natural disorientation caused by having to turn the page on their daily involvement in the company, creates a significant challenge.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

Putting myself out there professionally, openly expressing my extracurricular passions, which led me to manage a photographic art gallery for a few years. That adventure has ended, but the greatest reward comes from my clients, who continue to trust me and did not think I had gone mad!

What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?

It is something that cannot be explained. Leadership is a natural quality. Perhaps what most defines a leader is … their silences.

Who do you most admire and why?

No specific name. I admire silent leaders who seek my advice and, despite not being famous, reveal unique and unexpected success stories.

Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?

I visited the city of Trieste. Every Italian city holds surprises and treasures. It is a unique country, and for HNWI families, increasingly a place that combines certain tax advantages with the experience of living in the history of the entire world.

If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?

I would teach philosophy at an important American college.

How do you relax after a long day?

I spend time with my family. Time is limited, so I love talking with my wife and son at the end of the day.
