Tell Citywealth readers a bit about your role.

I’m a solicitor and a partner in a boutique private client firm which means that I am entrusted with working with people at all stages of their lives and this can be some of the most distressing experiences they will have so it is a great privilege to sit alongside them and navigate the legal niceties.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Lots of coffee and lots of conversations! Everything starts with asking my clients what they would like to achieve. Because no-one wakes up and thinks “oh today I will call my solicitor” – something will have prompted the need for the conversation and so once I know what clients are trying to achieve we can build a road map for the journey we are going to embark on together.

Tell us about some recent, interesting client instructions/requests you have received.

Given the nature of my work – I have to respect privacy and confidentiality – but cases have ranged from emergency court hearings to protect the interests of vulnerable individuals and their wider families, succession planning for a multi million pound estate and having some wonderful conversations with families who are balancing philanthropy and personal legacy. No two case is the same!

What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?

A lot of my clients don’t meet me on a good day. They meet me when something significant has happened to them or a loved one. They’re scared and stressed and my job is to sit down with them and build trust. Once we have that trust built – we can work on the way forward – and when we get to the end of the journey, everyone is better off than they were at that first meeting.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

Realising that by using my legal skills and knowledge that I have been able to get justice for my clients who were not being role what their rights were and once they realised they could have legal advice and support – getting them the right outcome for their unique circumstances.

What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?

This job is tough enough without us sniping at each other. Whatever is going on – we pull in the same direction.

Who do you most admire and why?

I had the pleasure to attend Lady  Brenda Hale’s 80th birthday party last year and I got a little bit star struck! What an incredible achievement to be the first woman to be appointed as the President of the Supreme Court.

Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?

Marrakech for a wedding and birthday

If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?

I would love to own a bookshop.

How do you relax after a long day?

In summer you’ll find me in the garden and in winter buried in a good book
