Family Governance Advice
I advise a HNW family in relation to the succession planning from Generation 2 (who currently operate the family companies) to Generation 3 (who are now in a position to take on the responsibility). The family holding structure includes over 40 trusts and a variety of underlying family companies, designed to ensure the family retains control and to mitigate the risks of fall out within the family and to retain an equilibrium between different branches. This is an example of an increasing trend towards overseeing the transfer of wealth between generations and helping balance the family dynamic to ensure a smooth transition. This is important as families become ever more international, divorce becomes more common place and the sums involved a so significant.
