1 Hotel arrives in Mayfair
Taking root on Berkeley Street, 1 Hotel Mayfair will be London’s first mission-driven sustainable luxury hotel. See what to expect following its opening on 13 July.

1 Hotel has arrived in London, taking root in Mayfair on Berkeley Street. With hotels across North America and slated openings in Paris, Copenhagen and Melbourne, 1 Hotel Mayfair will be London’s first mission-driven sustainable luxury hotel. Nature is integral to the 1 Hotels and sustainability is celebrating through the design, layout, culture, storytelling and service in each location. As the UK and European flagship for the brand, 1 Hotel Mayfair sets the standard for a new form of luxury experience that positively impacts our planet.
The hotel is the result of a reimagination and adaptation of an existing building, and retains over 80% of the existing structure in order to minimise the negative environmental impact of renovation and reconstruction. Sustainably sourced and recycled materials have been used throughout, such as reclaimed metal floor tiles, solar panelling and large swathes of green ‘living walls’ to create one of the most sustainable reuse developments in Mayfair.
And none of this comes at the expense of luxury. The hotel is nine-stories, comprising of 181 guest rooms and suites, a restaurant, coffeeshop, signature bar, bespoke fitness centre and wellness spa. The guestrooms feature living moss walls, timber flooring crafted out of fallen trees from the Windsor Estate and Welsh slate bathroom vanities. Environmental luxury is everywhere, from a reception desk created from one naturally felled piece of wood from Sussex, to a leafy chandelier complete with sliding rattan panels as a nod to the picnic baskets commonly found in Green Park, which the hotel overlooks. Artwork and plants are abound on the property, with over 200 plant species present and specially commissioned pieces of artwork, such as ‘Flow’ by marine-plastic artist Steve McPherson and feature sculptures by Kate McGwire.
On the ground floor you can find Dovetale, the hotel restaurant headed by two Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers. The menu is rooted in a deep respect for seasonable produce, and boasts an à la carte option alongside options from the grill and raw bar. There is an expensive wine programme to complement the food, and the ultimate treat in the form of a Knickerbocker Glory trolley for tableside dessert.
For those seeking coffees or cocktails, Neighbours is the name of the café and bar offered by the hotel. It is set to be a daytime café and evening bar, with a central communal table to encourage conversation and collaboration. A signature destination cocktail bar, adjacent to the restaurant, is also planned to open at launch.
Finally, the Bamford Wellness Spa sets off the hotel’s opulent offerings. The Wellness area on the first floor creates a dynamic, uplifting space for guests to work out and the Spa has three treatment rooms, curated with a calming, soothing palette that provide the backdrop for Bamford’s holistic approach to relaxation, restoration and nurturing wellbeing.
