Michael Nueber

Tell Citywealth readers about your role.

I’m an attorney at law and notary public in the Principality of Liechtenstein. I primarily deal with private client-related work, be it in the realm of estate planning and structuring or dispute resolution.

What does a typical day look like for you?

When I’m in the office, many people want to speak with me, be them clients or different members of my team, so I usually start working around 7 am in the morning. Since to me it is of utmost importance to work on the cases clients entrust me with personally, I prefer starting that early and – after a dinner break – continue in the more quiet evening hours. Also, I’m travelling a lot and that is why, quite often, my days do not look the same at all.

Tell us about interesting client instructions.

As a private client lawyer, one is involved in many different matters. However, to me, the most interesting instructions involve family-run business, be it in the realm of estate planning or dispute resolution matters.

What challenges do your clients face and how are you helping your clients to overcome them?

Usually, my clients face different challenges. Many of them are personal in nature, which is why they require an adviser, who acts with utmost confidentiality and professionalism. In particular, in regard to dispute resolution cases, clients often look for an attorney who protects their interests with all legal means possible but at the same time renders clear recommendations how to proceed in a certain matter.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

Winning a couple of high value private client arbitrations or setting-up an estate planning structure for a well-known central-European family.

What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?

Clarity in his or her advice as well as the courage to give the client clear instructions, without numerous disclaimers in the same document.

Who do you most admire and why?

In general, people who do the extra mile and do not back down at the slightest pushback. Consistency is key.

Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?

Vienna, Vancouver, Paris. All last month.

If you weren’t in this industry, what else might you be doing?

Perhaps working as a Historian or studying theology.

How do you relax after a long day?

Enjoying family time.
