Hot on the heels of his launch of Le Chalet on the roof at Selfridges, Des McDonald has opened Q on Ice. This latest concept is taking up a 17 week residency at Canada Square Park. Conveniently located by the ice rink, Q on Ice is an ideal venue for couples, families and groups, offering a wide selection of food and drink from the BBQ menu and raw bar.

Settle in for a meal or take a break from the ice skating action and enjoy a winter inspired ‘chocktail’ or one of the many craft beers on offer. Based on Des McDonald's ‘Q Grill’ in Camden, the menu at Q on Ice is packed with the best seasonal produce, plenty of locally sourced ingredients and secret seasonings. Dishes include Charred Cornish hot wings, Barbecue crispy duck in a pretzel bun and Seared tuna with Japanese horseradish. The flexible dining space and all-day menu caters for groups big and small, as well as hosting corporate events and private parties.

The Q on Ice kitchen will be overseen by Lee Bull, Group Executive for Des McDonald Restaurants. Q on Ice boasts a large outdoor viewing terrace where non-skaters can soak up the festive atmosphere, while watching friends and family skating past. Featuring London’s only skate path, this unique ice rink leads skaters through fairy-lit trees around Canada Square Park’s iconic ‘Big Blue’ sculpture by British designer Ron Arad before re-joining the main rink. Spanning almost 1100m2, the Ice Rink Canary Wharf is one of the largest outdoor rinks in the capital.

Ice skaters and visitors to Canary Wharf’s shops and buildings alike can enjoy a leisurely drink or meal, soaking up the festive atmosphere at Q on Ice.
