Now approaching its 6th birthday, the award-winning Oblix was the first restaurant to open in The Shard back in Spring 2013 and continues to set sky-high standards. Serving sophisticated, seasonal dishes along with views from the tallest building in Western Europe, it is another must-visit destination from the globally established Azumi Ltd, created and founded by innovative chef-restaurateur Rainer Becker and partner Arjun Waney, with restaurants including Roka and Zuma.
Oblix is split across two unique spaces overseen by general manager, Angel Alleyne (The Wolseley, Brasserie Zedel). Turn right at the entrance for Oblix West, a contemporary yet relaxed restaurant with views from St. Pauls to the West End. Turn left for Oblix East, a bar and lounge designed for a creative, cosmopolitan crowd, serving an imaginative short menu and drinks well into the evening.
All-day menus are carefully orchestrated, in conjunction with Rainer, by executive chef Marcus Eaves, a culinary wunderkind who gained his first Michelin star aged just 27 at L’Autre Pied in Marylebone. Cooking on the spit roast, charcoal grill and wood-fired ovens, Marcus showcases the best of British and European produce. Afternoon tea is served each day in Oblix West from 2.30pm and Elevator lunches during the week, while Oblix East offers bottomless brunch on weekends, and has live music and DJs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Oblix interiors were created by Italian architect and designer Claudio Silvestrin, whose understated style has earned him fans like Kanye West and Giorgio Armani. Using natural materials, he has created a perfectly serene space in which the experience of dining becomes a unique journey: the feeling of being on top of the world, yet clearly grounded by the interior architecture.
