Magic Circle Awards 2020 – here’s what happened

1 December 2020

April French Furnell

In 2020, the Magic Circle Awards went virtual.

All the networking, Citywealth glamour, and announcements delivered direct to guests’ homes.

“A huge thank you to you and your team for the invitation to the Magic Circle Awards.  I have attended a couple of virtual awards in the last few months and this was definitely the best. Hamper was delicious as was the champagne cocktail”, Kate Leppard, Deputy Head UK Wealth Management, Cazenove Capital

The Citywealth team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the wealth management industry the awards under a new format, adapted to the worldwide situation. The result was an experience as close to attending an in-person event as possible, all with a touch of Citywealth glamour.

“Just wanted to drop you a line Karen to congratulate you (and Calin and the team) on pulling off the 2020 version of the Magic Circle awards with some style, despite all the challenges this year!”, Julian Washington, Head of Business Development, Druces

Guests were welcomed online to a virtual platform where they took their seat at their ‘virtual table’. At the table they could chat via HD video with other guests seated alongside them and join each other to raise a glass of champagne pre-delivered to their home, alongside treats of caviar, blinis and smoked salmon.

Karen Jones, CEO and Editor announced the winners, with breaks for networking throughout, and a special DJ set from ‘Me and Mrs Jones’ aka Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Richard Jones.

Following the awards, guests jumped tables to network with contacts they hadn’t seen in a long time. Via their business cards, they could easily share their LinkedIn profile and set-up meetings.

Congratulations to all the winners, and a special thank you to our sponsors. We hope to see you in person in 2021.
