This May, the team behind the Indian restaurant Darbaar will launch a new bar in the City called Lotus. The new place will feature an oriental cocktail menu, including spice-infused spirits and Indian twists on classics, matched by a menu of Royal-inspired dishes from chef-patron Abdul Yaseen. Lotus will soft launch with fifty percent off drinks 5pm - 7pm on 22, 23 and 24 May, before their official launch event on 25 May.
Inspired by the flavours and spices of India and its Royal Courts, the new cocktail menu features the likes of the Haldi Margherita, a mix of tequila and triple sec, shaken with orange, lime and turmeric (haldi), a sacred spice prized in India’s Royal Courts for its potent medicinal qualities. The Kala Jamuntini combines the flavours of black plum (jamun), a celebrated Ayurvedic cure, with gin, orange and lime, while the Lotus Collins gets the Darbaar twist with refreshing coriander, mint and chilli.
Chef Abdul’s Lotus food menu has been created to pair with the drinks offering. Snacks include Gun Powdered Nuts, Masala Cumin Olives and Tandoori Momos, which are delicacies from the North East of India, similar to dim sum but cooked in Darbaar’s tandoor. The likes of Gilafi Lamb Sheekh Kebab will give a flavour of chef Abdul’s renowned skill behind the grill, while Darbaar favourites such as the Nanza, an Indian pizza with chilli chicken, and the Haleem, a delicacy from Hyderabad consisting of lamb and lentil porridge with saffron pao, will also be available.
