CIM survey: Marketing confirmed as a high tech business
The Chartered Institute of Marketing have conducted a survey with 1600 members on tech trends and found that the progress of technology is driving change in the marketing profession. Marketers in tech companies said their role was taken seriously but benchmarking shows that vendors set budgets substantially lower than other sectors. The average was 4.5% against 7% in the financial services sector and 7.5% in retail, distribution and leisure markets. The survey said marketers in tech companies are amongst the least likely to be ramping up their marketing function.
