Karen founded Citywealth after a career at News International, The Times, and Sunday Times in the legal, financial and recruitment sections. She also ran the Legalease flagship title Legal Business/Asia Pacific Legal 500, and launched Legal Business Awards and Legal 500 parties. Karen then took over In Brief magazine, where she grew the organisation from a buyout where it had gone bankrupt to a successful £500,000-a-year publishing and events business. Her work as a Citywealth CEO was recognised by four New York Stevie Awards: Women helping women (2014, 2015), Innovator of the year (2015), and Entrepreneur of the year (2015).

Donna Shorto

Managing Director

Donna was educated in Guernsey before studying law at Exeter University, obtaining an honours degree before returning to the island on completion of her studies in 2009. She joined Credit Suisse Trust as a trust administrator in 2009, taking responsibility for a diverse portfolio of complex trust and company structures and specialising in the Far East and real estate/private equity structures. Donna continued her professional studies and qualified as a full member of STEP in 2011. She joined PraxisIFM as a Trust Manager in 2015, managing a team that administers a wide range of structures. Donna relocated to the UK in late 2017 to head up the UK Trust and corporate offering in London, where she holds the position of Managing Director and is responsible for business development.

Matt is a private wealth lawyer whose practice covers a wide range of work for high net worth private clients. He has particular expertise in the areas of trusts, foundations, succession and tax planning for internationally-mobile individuals and families and their structures. Matt has a reputation as a leading advisor for the Next Generation / NextGen of wealth holders, with experience in helping clients incorporating pro-ethical objectives and governance in wealth structures. Matt commonly works in conjunction with advisors in other jurisdictions to help internationally mobile clients implement planning that works across all areas of their lives. Matt worked for a number of years in Switzerland, for leading UK and Swiss law firms, and has an extensive practice dealing with UK/Swiss cross-border private wealth matters.

Sam Harbord-Hamond

Sam is a Portfolio Manager at Cazenove Capital and joined the firm in August 2011, after graduating from Bristol University. He is responsible for managing the investments of a broad range of high net worth individuals and complex family groups. He holds the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) and the CISI Masters in Wealth Management. He is a Chartered member of the CISI and won Private Banker/Investment Manager of the year at the 2019 CityWealth Future Leaders awards. He has over 8 years of investment experience.

Christopher Yardley

Christopher advises clients on a wide range of planning requirements, including pensions, insurance, tax and investments. He views himself as a ‘problem-solver’ and enjoys getting involved with complex and challenging cases. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities and Investments Institute (CISI) and possesses the Diploma in Financial Advice (DipFA), Investment Advice Diploma (IAD), Certificate in Investment Management (IMC), and Accredited Paraplanner Certificate (APP). He also holds the ‘gold standard’ Chartered Wealth Manager (CWM) qualification and was named as the Financial Advisory / UHNW Services Individual of the Year in the Citywealth Future Leaders Award 2019. Christopher began his financial career as a private client stockbroker specialising in blue chip equities on UK and US markets. Later, he became a product specialist at Time Investments, a leading provider of Property Funds and EIS solutions.

Lindsey Dean

Lindsey is FCA qualified and has almost 20 years’ experience in audit, accounting, business advisory and marketing. Lindsey currently manages a diverse audit client portfolio that includes fiduciary, captive insurance, fund and Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) listed structures. She is part of the team which provides voluntary liquidation services to Guernsey, British Virgin Island and Cayman domiciled entities and she also provides accountancy support to one of the firm’s largest clients. Lindsey has previously held roles with the Guernsey’s Chamber of Commerce and was President of Guernsey’s Young Business Group (YBG) for which she now acts as advisor to YBG Council. Lindsey was named as one of Accountancy Age’s Top 35 under 35. Lindsey was also named on the Citywealth Leaders List in 2017 and 2019. She also received a Silver Award for Accountant of the Year in 2017 and most recently, a Gold Award for Accountant of the Year at the 2019 Citywealth Future Leaders Awards.

Rebecca Hughes

Rebecca joined Cripps (now Cripps Pemberton Greenish) in 2005 as a trainee solicitor, qualifying into the Residential Conveyancing team two years later. Over the last fifteen years she has gained a wealth of experience working on a wide range of residential property transactions with a particular interest in acting for high net worth individuals with large, rural properties. Rebecca has built an enviable reputation for making the conveyancing process as easy as possible for clients and, as a result, she has a strong network of referrers and returning clients. Rebecca particularly enjoys the fast paced nature and the variety of her work and coaching and developing junior members of the team and trainees. In addition to the day job, Rebecca recently took over the role of chair of the Cripps Pemberton Greenish Charity Committee and is enjoying this new challenge.
