Khendor Kor, Clarks Shoes and the JA Clark Charitable Trust
Interest in Khendor Kor, the charity the JA Clark Charitable Trust are helping, who educate rural girls in Pakistan is something that dominates her time now, particularly as their three year financing programme for providing Women's Learning Centres in the Tribal Areas with the charity is about to end. “Maryam Bibi is a very remarkable woman” says Pym “she comes from North Waziristan and is a practicing Muslim, so she has been able to gain the confidence of the men and village heads in the remote areas of north Pakistan and some of the Tribal Areas. With their support she can set up Community Organisations, to build girls schools, and encourage support for the women such as trained midwives, literacy and microfinance. Read more...

Muzaffar Khan: from hedge funds to social entrepreneurship
Muzaffar Khan, who is now forty, was born in Karachi, Pakistan which is the largest city in Pakistan. His family were part of the landed gentry and Khan mentions a family gravestone near Lahore which is more than four hundred years old. The family money came from rice which is big business in the region with Asian farmers still accounting for ninety two percent of the world's total rice production and export earnings are around the $2billion mark. The Khan family’s main income is no longer in the rice business but now they hold roles in government and the military. One notable relative was Sardar Shaukat Hussein Khan Mazari who was Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab and was elected to be a provincial minister before his death in 2008. Peter Buffett launches musical charitable CD and advent calendar website and donates CD's to Citywealth Shanghai Delhi club
When you look at the website, the wintery landscape artwork featured on this advent calendar was designed by Pennsylvania-based folk artist, Jessica Wasilewski, who recently underwent a bone marrow transplant at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City. Today, December 1st, the first door will reveal information on how to support The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, which provided lodging for no cost to Jessica during her months of treatment. Taming the tiger economy
Brays wife runs a 33,000 hectare wildlife reserve in South Africa where the South China tiger cubs are raised in a free-ranging environment and trained to hunt wild prey with the aim of eventually transferring them back to the wild in their country of origin. (Sadly virtually all of the remaining South China tigers reside in Chinese zoos rather than the wild)).
