Preventing mistakes in running family offices – conference review
There were several family office attendees and one that attracted a lot of interest was a Zamil family member of the Zamil Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Frighteningly bright, the young fellow was attending to brush up on corporate governance and was doing so to help finish off his PhD. With no intention of going into the family business he was set upon a career in teaching or management consulting. He admitted that much pressure would be put on him to stay in the family office but knew his own mind. Echoing an earlier talk he said his only aim was to ensure his grandfathers wishes for their company were transferred through the generations. He said in their family office not only were his father and grandfather well up to speed on investment propositions but they additionally had a financial director who would intervene in any talks of a financial nature.
